Chief Minister Shri Vijaybhai Rupani said that for the first time in the history of Gujarat State, 3% subsidy has been received for lending to Cooperative Banks.  Through the Mukhyamantri Mahila Utkarsh Yojana, the state's co-operative banks will be able to increase the number of such women members in their area, help the younger men and provide loans to women groups at zero per cent interest.  He further said that at a time when epidemics like Cory's are occurring once in a century, co-operative banks have realized their responsibility to the society.  

The co-operative banks had given loans of up to Rs 2.5 lakh to small men, retailers, laborers and daily earners.  Co-operative banks have lent a total of Rs 500 crore to 2.5 lakh people in the state.  The meeting was attended by Shri Jayeshbhai Radadia, Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Shri Bachubhai Khabad, Minister of State for Rural Development, Shri Vibhavaribahen Dave, Minister of State for Women and Child Welfare, Shri Nalin Upadhyay, Co-operation Secretary  Also participated.
