Farmer friends, cumin is an important winter crop in North Gujarat.  By sowing cumin crop on time and taking good care, more yield can be obtained.

 Soil preparation

Cumin crop is more susceptible to cold, dry and clean weather.  Well drained sandy, loamy to medium loam soils with adequate organic matter are more suitable.  The more weeds in more irrigated soil, the more often the cost of removing them increases.  To prepare the soil, plow deep with a plow and cultivate the soil 2 to 6 times to make the soil soft and full and then level the repairs.  Depending on the slope of the land, Kayara is narrow and small i.e. 8 m.  3rd m.  Making maa increases production, profit and efficiency of irrigation.

 Planting time

In the first week of November when the maximum temperature is 40 C.  Sowing done when it is around has proved to be more beneficial.  Late sowing is more susceptible to pests and diseases

 Planting spacing and seed rate

Depending on the sowing method, soil texture and salinity, 12 to 15 kg of seed per hectare is sufficient.  Depth of sowing is 1.5 to 2 cm.  To keep up.  30 cm  Sowing at a distance of can reduce the rate of seed and the incidence of disease and is much more convenient in weed control.

 Compost

Chemical fertilizer: 20 + 15 kg no.  Per hectare.

Indigenous Fertilizer: In more sandy soils where fertility is low, 10 to 12 tractor trolleys per hectare should be mixed with the soil at the time of preparation of compost.

 Weeding and inter-plowing

It is especially important to keep the cumin crop weed free for 3 days.  Where farm laborers are easily available at cheap rates, do weeding 24-30 days after sowing and second weeding 30 days as per requirement.  Pendimethalin 1.0 kg.  Depending on the activity, cumin per hectare should be sprayed evenly on the first irrigated or irrigated soil after two to three days.

Major pest and control of crops

 Molo

Apply castor oil or neem flour per tonne per hectare.

Planting pest resistant varieties like Gujarat Jiru-2.

Use nitrogenous fertilizers as well as recommended fertilizers.

Sowing of spice crops from last week of October to first 6 days of November.

Arrange yellow sticky cage at 10 per hectare for 5 inspection of molo.

Natural enemies of the molluscum, such as coccyx septum punctata, bromoidus succulents, and hypodemia variegata, are the natural control of seafood flies.

Spray 2% mixture of Lemongrass (200 gm / 10 L. Water) or Lemongrass Oil (20 ml / 10 L. Water) twice daily at intervals.

Spraying of Methyl-O-Dimethone 0.028% from a controlled droplet applicator rather than a 3 sec sprayer effectively controls cumin molecules.

For control of cumin molo, it is recommended to do two sprays of Monocrotophos 0.02% drug (10 ml / 10 L water) or Carbasulfan 0.04 percent (20 ml / 10 L water) at intervals of 3 days.

Thrips

Cumin thrips can be controlled by sowing Thiamethoxam 30 WS drug 3.2 g / kg seed or Imidacloprid 40 WS 10 g / kg seed.

 Either Methyl-O-Dimethon 0.04% (20 ml / 10 L water) or Trizophos 0.06% (1.8 ml / 10 L water) or Acephate 0.06% (10 g / 10 L water) for control of thrips.  To spray twice at an interval of 15 days.

 Crackle

Applying Thiamethoxam 30 WS 2.3 gm per kg of seed at 2 tbsp fenugreek gives effective control of cracking.

 Giocoris controls 3 predatory suckers.

 Whitefly

Arrange yellow sticky cage at 10 per hectare for whitefly inspection.

To spray 2% mixture of Lemongrass (500 gm / 10 L. Water) or Lemongrass Oil (20 ml / 10 L. Water) twice in 15 days interval.

Major disease and control of crops

 Cumin black / leather

Instead of continuous sowing in the same field, change the crop as well as the field.

As the humid climate is very conducive to the disease, avoid planting cumin next to crops with high water requirement like rye, wheat and rye etc. or plant at a suitable distance.

Before sowing, apply one fungicide of Mancozeb or Thyrum at the rate of 2 gm per kg of seed.

Instead of sowing punkhi, sow in furrows at intervals of 30 cm and inter-plow after irrigation.

Kayara for irrigation should be made very small and flat so that an even and light irrigation can be given.  Avoid irrigating in cloudy and foggy weather.

Excessive application of nitrogenous fertilizers increases the vegetative growth of the plant and the disease spreads rapidly.  For this, manure should be used more.

The crop lasts for 4-30 days, so mix a saturated solution of mancozeb (4 g / 10 liters) or diphenconazole 0.08% (10 ml / 10 liters) as well as 24 ml soap and apply the solution on the plants in the form of smoke.  Should be sprinkled.  Thus, three more sprays at 10 day intervals can effectively control the disease.

With only two-three irrigations of cumin crop at a depth of 5 cm, the severity of skin disease in the crop remains low.

 Squeeze the cumin

10 tons / ha of manure.  Or castor oil or rye meal or poultry manure 2.3 ton / ha.  This reduces the incidence of the disease.

Planting 5th cumin of guar or jowar crop reduces the incidence of disease.  Deep plowing 2-3 times in summer.

Cultivation of Sukara resistant varieties like G. Jiru-2 and G. Jiru-2.

In case of black skin or black disease, the seeds should be treated with medicine.

 Cumin powder

24 kg / ha of 400 mesh sulfur powder in 3 days after sowing as a protective solution.  Spray in the morning when there is dew on the plants.

As soon as the disease appears, spray three times at an interval of 15 days as mentioned above.

To spray sulfur in soluble form instead of sulfur in powder form, dissolve 24 g of soluble sulfur or 8 ml of calicase in 10 liters of water and spray 2-3 times.

Apply sulfur in the morning only when there is dew on the plants so that the dew sticks to the dew due to dew.  However, spraying of soluble sulfur or calcine should be done during the day to remove the dew from the plants so that the solution sticks to the dry plants.

Only two-three irrigations of cumin crop to a depth of 3 cm reduce the severity of powdery mildew in the crop.
