Isabagul - An important cash crop

Isabagul is called 'Ghodajiru' in the local language.  Isabgul is the most important crop in our country with the largest area among all the medicinal crops under cultivation.  In the year 2015-16, 2100 hectare area was under cultivation of Isabgul in Gujarat out of which 10,50 May.  Tons were produced.  Besides, in the year 2016-17 in Rajasthan 4,6,6 ha.  The area was under cultivation of Isabgul out of which 1, 12, 3 May.  Tons were produced.  Apart from Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana have also started its cultivation in the last few years.  In Gujarat, it is mainly cultivated in Banaskantha, Kutch, Mehsana, Jamnagar and Rajkot districts.

New planting in fruit crop idea

The most important part of Isabgul's seed is the husk on it which accounts for 90% of the seed.  In addition, it contains about 5% lighter oil, 7.8% ash and 7.8% moisture.  The husk from the seed is released by physical process.  Due to its moisture retaining properties, husk is used as an excretory drug.  It is also useful in permanent death caused by amoebae and bacteria.  It is calorie free.  Its fibers stimulate bowel movements.  Hence it is used to relieve constipation and some other intestinal diseases.  In addition, its use has been shown to have no other side effects on the human body.  Its seeds have cooling properties and are used in Ayurvedic, Unani and Allopathy treatments.  Its seeds and husks can be used to treat inflammation of the mucous membranes of the digestive tract and urinary tract, as well as to treat intestinal ulcers, hemorrhoids and gonorrhea, as well as to lower cholesterol.  Research has been done to use it for abortion as well as vaginal dilation during abortion.  Apart from medicinal uses, it can also be used in dyeing, textile printing, ice cream industry, confectionery and cosmetics industry.  Soybean seeds contain 12 to 15% protein which is used in animal feed.

Isabagul exports are largely to the U.S.  Made in West Germany, Britain and France.  It is the largest foreign exchange earning medicinal crop.  Its total annual exports have increased to about Rs 114 crore at present.

 Land and climate

Isabagul is a winter irrigated crop.  It occurs in sandy and loamy soils.  Soils with low drainage capacity are not conducive to the growth of this crop.  It comes in dry and cold weather.

Sowing time

This crop is sown from 30th November to 30th December.  Early sowing and also at higher seed rates increase the chances of sedimentation.  Late sowing reduces the winter growth period and increases the chances of Isabagul seeds falling due to unseasonal rains in March-April.  If the weather is humid at the time of maturation of the crop, its seeds fall off and yield is reduced.  More dew and rain showers also reduce its production.  At the time of harvest, more seeds fall from the plants as it rains.

 Plowing

The soil should be well tilled and weed free as well as heap free for good succulence.  The number of plows and plows depends on the type of soil, the previous crop and the amount of weeds.  When to make suitable size keeping in view the soil structure, field slope and irrigation system.  For light soils, beds of 3 m x 2 m or smaller are suitable.

 Compost

This crop needs less nitrogen.  Usually 15 kg.  Nitrogen and 15 kg.  Phosphorus is applied in the last tillage as base fertilizer per hectare.  20 days after sowing again 15 kg.  Nitrogen supplementation is given as fertilizer.  If chemical fertilizer is not to be used in this crop, then in the monsoon the green leaf of the canopy is sown and in the winter sorghum is sown.

 Seeds and sowing

Seeds should be taken from the quantity prepared from the previous season to get a higher flowering percentage.  Old seeds stored under normal conditions lose vigor.  Metalaxyl form SD 5 gm for control of seed bottom disease.  Seed treatment according to the seed. The seeds of Isbagul are small and light.  So before sowing it is combined with the required sand or sifted manure.  Sow the seeds.  After sowing, the broom is rotated to mix the seeds with the soil.  For uniform fermentation it is necessary to rotate the saplings in the same direction so that the seeds are not pressed deeply.

 Irrigation

Water the seeds immediately after sowing.  First it is necessary to give water very slowly.  If water is given at a fast speed, the seed is pulled in one direction of the bed and the distribution and germination of the seed is not the same.  Seeds usually germinate in 3 to 4 days after watering.  If the seed does not germinate properly, then water the soil  Give the top layer as much as possible so that the uncultivated seeds can grow in the loose soil.  Subsequent watering as per crop requirement.  A total of 3 to 5 irrigations are required for this crop.  The last watering when the tubs are in the highest ‘milk stage’.  After three years of experimentation at Anand and Vijapur, it has been concluded that even if the first watering is given at the time of sowing, the second watering at 30 days and the third watering at 90 days (i.e. three irrigations in total) does not make any significant difference.

 Weed control

The first weeding is done 20 to 20 days after sowing of the crop.  It is usually necessary to weed 3 to 4 times during the two months of the crop stage.  There is no need to weed later.  Weeding becomes very expensive as the seeds of Isabagul are sown in full.  Among the various herbicides, the drug containing the active ingredient isocoturone is very effective as a herbicide.  The active ingredient of Isoproturon herbicide is mixed in 500 liters of water and sprayed on one hectare area.  First prepare the land for sowing, make ditches and then spray the whole field.  Also spray on drug shifts so that weeds do not become overgrown.  Sowing and watering of esbagul 3-4 days after completion of spraying.  The drug can also be sprayed on the second day after sowing.

Disease control

Bottom line: The onset of the disease is usually at the time of appearance of dudy.  There are small spots on the upper surface of the leaf which gradually get bigger.  On the underside of the leaf, a gray fur-like pathogen appears.  The diseased leaves turn yellow and eventually turn brownish brown and wither.  If the incidence of the disease is high, the doodie becomes crooked and twists.  Diseased plants do not grow well.  The smaller ones remain smaller in size and the seeds sit less.  Which are inferior in quality resulting in lower total seed production.  The disease is more prevalent in misty cold and cloudy weather.

Control: Disease can be controlled by spraying Metalaxyl 0.2% Mancozeb 0.4% and Mancozeb 0.2% again at 20, 30 and 30 days after sowing at the time of emergence of Dudi.  Research has shown that for effective and efficient control of sedimentary disease in sorghum crop, sorghum should be planted in the last week of November.

 Pest control

Molomshi: Cubs and Pushka Moloshi suck under the leaves and with soft stems.  The sticky sap from his body is constantly dripping which black fungus appears on the leaf.  Which inhibits photosynthesis and stops the growth of plants.  Control: Dimethoate 50 EC 10 ml for this pest.  Or phosphamidon 20 EC drug 2 ml.  Mix any one of these drugs in 10 liters of water and spray.

 Pruning

The crop is ready in about 110 to 120 days and is harvested in March-April.  When the crop is ready, the plants turn yellow and the hundi appear pale pink to gray.  Understand that the crop is ready to be harvested when the ripe seeds come out from the dudi even with just hand pressing.  The sky must be cloudless and the weather must be dry at harvest time.  When there is dew on the plants at harvest time, the seeds fall during harvesting.  Therefore, if the dew blows away, that is, the harvest should be done only after 10 am.  Plants should only be pruned close to the ground with a toothpick.  Plants are also uprooted from the soil where the soil is more sandy.  Immediately after harvesting, the plants are packed in bundles and taken to the threshing floor.  Immediately after harvesting, the plants are packed in bundles and taken to the threshing floor.  After keeping the isbagul in the barn, keep it for two days.  Then plow in the threshing floor with ox or tractor.  Walking early in the morning takes away the moisture and the seeds are immediately released from the dudi.  After weeding, the seed is cleaned.  Grass is also used as animal feed.
